CONFFIDENCE INVITED TO THE FRENCH TABLES
The CONffIDENCE project was recently on the front page in the French press. The project coordinator was interviewed by EURadioNantes about the honey test developed in the framework of the project. This test allows collectors, intermediaires and staff at cooperatives to test individual lots of honey for antibiotics before purchase.

THE 3RD CONFFIDENCE OPEN DAY WAS A BIG SUCCESS
During the 5th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA 2011), held from 1- 4th November 2011 in Prague Czech Republic, the CONffIDENCE project held its 3rd Open Day together with a poster session. The Open Day with the title “Rapid tests for contaminants” was organized on Thursday the 3rd of November.
During the RAFA 2011 oral sessions 6 and 7 entitled Rapid methods I and II respectively, the CONffIDENCE results were presented through 5 oral presentations, giving an overview of CONffIDENCE, the industrial needs regarding rapid tests for contaminants, and key results obtained thus far for persistent organic pollutants (POP’s), heavy metals and alkaloids. In the afternoon, a poster session was held where 22 posters and 9 demonstration activities regarding the CONffIDENCE outputs were presented by various project members. The combination of posters, demonstration activities and oral presentations proved to be effective in generating interest and stimulating discussions with the audience. Approximately 150 participants attended to the Open Day.

STUDY ADVANCED FOOD SAFETY AT QUEEN'S
The MSc in Advanced Food Safety programme is a novel course tailored to students who aim to or currently work within the agri-food industry. It will be delivered by research active scientists within the Institute of Agri-Food and Land Use (IAFLU) at Queen’s. The major focus will be on new and emerging issues within the diverse field
of food safety and it will concentrate on developments in analytical approaches used to monitor and regulate food safety with the view to protect human health. Key topics covered will include: food fraud and traceability and the analytical methods used to detect fraud and ensure food safety and authenticity; the links between environmental chemical contaminants and biological hazards present in animal feed and human food -highlighting new emerging technologies that enable rapid and early detection of food safety incidents and diagnosis of animal diseases.
